Renowned New Zealand actor Sam Neill has died at the age of 78.
Throughout his long career, he appeared in Oscar-winning films and blockbusters such as “The Piano” and “Jurassic Park.”
The actor’s death was announced on Monday via a statement posted on his Instagram account. No information was provided regarding the cause of death, but the actor had only recently revealed that he had beaten cancer after being diagnosed in 2022 with stage three T-cell lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, in 2022.
“It is with deep sadness that Sam Neill’s family announces his passing on Monday, July 13, in Sydney, Australia. Sam was surrounded by his family and passed away with the dignity that characterized his entire life. His passing was sudden and unexpected, but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer-free. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital for the incredible care they provided him.”
