U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday evening that it is “ridiculous” that the U.S. continues to have a “unilateral” support relationship with NATO, with less than a week to go before the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in Ankara, Turkey.
“They weren’t there for us,” the U.S. President said via Truth Social, adding three exclamation points, the U.S. President, insisting that there is no “reciprocity” in the relationship between his country and the other member states of the Western military alliance.
Donald Trump has repeatedly lashed out at his country’s European allies, particularly because of their reaction to the war in Iran, which broke out following the U.S.-Israeli attack on the Islamic Republic on February 28.
