Tragedy in Venezuela: Death toll from the earthquakes rises to 4,561

Nearly 18,000 homeless people

The death toll from the twin, powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela last month has risen to 4,561, according to the latest preliminary figures released by Parliament Speaker Jorge Rodríguez.

The number of people injured in the June 24 earthquake remained at 16,740. The number of people left homeless stands at 17,907.
