Traffic accidents are common in Egypt and are often attributed to dangerous driving behavior, poor vehicle and road maintenance, and inadequate enforcement of road safety laws.
Nearly 6,000 people were killed in traffic accidents in the country in 2025, according to the Egyptian Statistical Authority.
Last month, at least 18 people, most of them teenagers, lost their lives in a collision between two trucks carrying workers in northern Egypt.
