The vehicle was carrying 19 passengers to Ciudad de Dios, near the municipality of San Juan.
Traffic accidents are tragically common in Peru due to the poor condition of the road network and the large number of vehicles, a lack of enforcement, speeding, and other factors.
Last year, more than 3,000 people lost their lives on the roads of this Andean nation, according to official figures.
