U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he is ready for a trilateral meeting with his counterparts, Xi Jinping of China and Vladimir Putin of Russia, noting that the meeting could take place in China, where he will travel in November, and focus on denuclearization issues.
The U.S. President also reiterated his criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stating that “it’s time for someone else to negotiate on behalf of Ukraine.”
He also said he was not sure whether he would meet with South Korean leader Kim Jong-un during his trip to Asia next month, telling reporters that he was unsure whether anyone would request such a meeting.
He also cited the unrest in France in a post on Truth Social regarding the November midterm elections in the U.S.
“If you want to see what’s at stake in these elections, just look at what’s happening in France. A once-great country that is being overrun, looted, and set ablaze by immigrants, jihadists, and communists who hate Christianity and Western civilization,” Trump said, calling on Europe to close its borders.
“Europe must close its borders and expel the people who hate its countries. And it must expel them quickly, before it’s too late,” the U.S. President said, adding that he had warned his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.
“I told President Macron when I first met him, many years ago: close your borders, or it will be the end of France.” Addressing American voters, Trump stated: “When you see burning church steeples and raging fires in France, remember that this is what the radicals, those foolish Democrats (note: “Dumocrats,” a play on words) want to do in America.”
“Americans will stand tall and declare that we will defend our culture, protect our civilization, preserve our religion, our values and our heritage, and we will never allow our country to be conquered or destroyed,” President Trump emphasized.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated today that the decisions made by the United States regarding the war in Ukraine, including delays in arms shipments and restrictions on information sharing, are “difficult to explain.”
“Because it all boils down to the refusal of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin to end this war, as well as decisions on the American side that are hard to explain—among friends,” Zelenskyy said during a meeting with a delegation from the U.S. Congress.
Zelenskyy also said he hopes a Ukrainian delegation will meet in the coming days with the U.S. President’s envoys, Steve Whitecoff and Jared Kushner, in Norway in the coming days.
Furthermore, the Trump administration has not approved the delivery of Patriot missiles to Ukraine, according to the Washington Post, which cites U.S. officials and well-informed sources. This delay comes at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump has been reaching out to Russia, while at the same time sharply criticizing Ukraine and its President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, personally.
According to a U.S. official and three other well-informed sources cited by The Washington Post, some of the Patriot systems intended for Ukraine come from allies, but Pentagon approval is required to complete the transfer.
The U.S. has the final say, as these are American-made weapons systems, and any transfer of them to another country requires Washington’s approval. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated yesterday, Monday, during a meeting with a delegation from the U.S. Congress, that U.S. decisions regarding the war in Ukraine —including delays in weapons deliveries and limited intelligence sharing regarding impending attacks—are “difficult to explain.”
