A minor hiccup marked the arrival of Ousa Vance, the wife of U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance, at Andrews Air Force Base, where the No. 2 official in the U.S. government was set to begin his visit to Alaska.
Mrs. Vance, who was carrying her newborn fourth child in a baby carrier, stumbled while descending the steps of the helicopter that had transported her to the military base.

Fortunately, the Second Lady of the United States managed to grab onto the railing just in time, avoiding the worst.
However, it was striking that none of the four soldiers standing next to the stairs made the slightest move to help Usha Vance and her newborn son.
U.S. Second Lady Usha Vance nearly fell face-first while carrying her two-month-old baby in Alaska.
What caught viewers’ attention? The soldiers standing around her didn’t even flinch. Not a single reaction. https://t.co/chqyFp48BA

A few moments later, J.D. Vance stepped out of the same helicopter, holding their four-year-old daughter, Mirabel, in his arms.
The Vances’ visit to Alaska is intended to allow the U.S. vice president to support Senator Dan Sullivan’s re-election campaign.
“As you’ve probably seen, Ousa and some of the kids are coming with us. This is the 50th state Ousa has visited, which is why we’re taking a nine-week-old baby with us on a 7.5-hour flight to Alaska. “So, if I give a speech tonight and seem tired and stressed, that’s exactly why,” said J.D. Vance.
