Local police reported an incident involving gunfire overnight at a rave party at the racetrack in the city of Aarau in northern Switzerland, near Zurich, citing “multiple victims.”
The police post on X reads: “Aarau: Nighttime shooting during an event at Schachen. Multiple victims. Large-scale police operation. Avoid the area.”

According to Swiss media, the ongoing police operation likely means that the perpetrators are still at large. Reports so far indicate that at least one person has been killed and five others injured.
According to the newspaper Blick, the shots were fired around 3:00 a.m. local time during the “Aarauer Rave,” an annual techno party attended by 3,500 people at the Aarau racetrack. The event runs from early afternoon until 2:00 a.m.

A police spokesperson stated that “at this time, the police are able to confirm heavy gunfire within a large crowd of people.”
According to Blick, an eyewitness described “burst fire.”
