The Bolivian Ministry of Defense raised the death toll yesterday, Sunday, to six following explosions at a military facility where explosives were stored.
The explosions occurred on Friday afternoon in Viacha, a city of about 100,000 residents, some thirty kilometers from the administrative capital, La Paz.

Rescuers found three more bodies in the rubble, according to a ministry statement released yesterday, bringing the death toll to six, including three military personnel.
“The number of people who died as a result of Friday’s explosions at the military facility in Viaca now stands at six,” the ministry noted.

It clarified that the facility stored confiscated fireworks, hand grenades, and TNT.
Rescue teams continued their search to determine whether there were any other bodies in the rubble, as 11 people are still missing.
“There are still affected sites and materials that need to be examined by experts, as well as structures that sustained damage,” explained Defense Minister Ernesto Justino.
