The Vespers service currently taking place at Agios Mamas in occupied Morphou.
This development shows that the problems that arose recently have been overcome, regarding religious worship services, such as at the occupied Apostolos Andreas and the Hala Sultan Mosque.
The residents of Morphou are honoring their saint with a Grand Archiepiscopal Vespers service, presided over by Metropolitan Neophytos of Morphou, which began at 6 p.m., while tomorrow at 6:15 a.m., Matins and the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated.
At the same time, at 4 p.m., a prayer service will be held in honor of Chrysosotiros of Akanthos, whose icon is kept in occupied Morphou, and in honor of Saint Mamas, whose feast day is today.
It should be noted that preparations
The tragedy in Kyrenia, however, makes preparations for the next meeting of the leaders, on the 9th of the month, extremely difficult.
At least as far as the Turkish Cypriot side is concerned, since Tufan Erhurman has focused on the causes of the tragedy, even as he himself faces criticism over the shipwreck.
Clearly, however, less so than the Ankara officials in the occupied territories—pseudo-Prime Minister Ünal Ustel and, above all, the so-called Minister of Transportation Erhan Arıklı.
The statement by former Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci caused a stir; he pointed out that, out of nowhere, the number of missing persons is rising.
“This alone is enough to show how unprepared we are for such situations. These aren’t just numbers; they’re lives. If we could reach a solution in Cyprus, if we were operating within the framework of the EU and international law, would this disaster have happened?” Mustafa Akinci
He added that, despite all the difficulties, the main goal must remain a solution in Cyprus and accession to the EU.
