"We need positive news on the Cyprus issue, and I sincerely hope there will be some," said President of the Republic Nicos Christodoulides today.
Speaking to reporters as he was leaving the Presidential Palace to attend his meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman, the President of the Republic, when asked if we should expect anything today, said that “I am approaching this meeting with the hope that there will be positive results on the three aspects mentioned by the UN Secretary-General, namely substance, methodology, and confidence-building measures. I sincerely hope there will be positive results.
Alongside the meeting here in Nicosia, there is an important—in my view—initiative underway on the part of the EU. So, let’s hope we’ll have some positive news from that front as well. We certainly need positive news on both fronts.
As for our side, we are approaching this with clear political will and a positive attitude, determined to achieve results.”
