The organizers of a music event that was scheduled to take place at the occupied Kyrenia Castle informed E.LA.M. Geadis Geadis that they were withdrawing from the event, the MEP stated in an announcement, adding that an official “apology” is expected shortly. EXIT’s withdrawal from the music event came about as a result of his own interventions, Mr. Geadi adds.
In his statement, he notes that “on August 12, 2026, the National Popular Front (ELAM) was the first to denounce the planned music event titled ‘’Nexus,’ which was to take place in our occupied territories—specifically, at Kyrenia Castle—with the participation of EXIT.”
“Immediately, our Party took all necessary international and diplomatic actions,” he notes.
“At the same time, the President of ELAM, Christos Christou, sent the necessary letters, while ELAM MEP Geadis Geadis, contacted the Serbian embassies in Cyprus, Brussels, and Switzerland,” the statement adds.
“The following day, Thursday, August 13, he contacted officials of the Serbian government, who informed us that they no longer have any connection to this specific event or its organizers, as ties between them have been severed in recent years,” Mr. Geadi states.
On Friday, August 14, the ELAM MEP notes, he made initial contact with them and arranged a conference call with all parties involved for Monday, August 17, at noon.
On Saturday, August 15, he continued his contacts in Serbia in an effort to intervene with the individuals behind the organization of this specific event.
On Sunday, August 16, he contacted the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Serbia and briefed him on the steps taken and contacts made previously.
On Monday, August 17, Mr. Geadi reports that he participated in a conference call with the organizers involved, as well as with their legal advisor. During the discussion, the organizers apologized and at the same time expressed their intention to withdraw from the event in question, he notes. “At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Geadis contacted the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Serbia again to provide an update and coordinate actions, with the aim of achieving the best possible outcome,” he adds.
“To their credit, the organizers contacted Mr. Geadis again on Tuesday, August 18, via the group chat they had set up with the MEP, informing him of their actions and once again expressing their concern about the disruption they had caused,” the statement reads.
“Today, Wednesday, August 19, early this morning, EXIT—and more specifically, the organizers of the music event informed the ELAM MEP that they are withdrawing from the event. An official statement from them explaining the entire matter is expected tomorrow or in the coming days,” the statement adds.
“We chose not to publicize any of our actions until a final outcome was reached. The National Popular Front, through hard work and diligence, away from the spotlight, has achieved yet another significant result for Cyprus,” notes Mr. Geadi.
