Focusing on the need for meaningful dialogue and cooperation among political parties regarding Cyprus, the President of the Democratic Rally welcomed the new President of EDEK, Sofia ChristTodoulou Makri, at the party’s offices today.
In welcoming the new President of EDEK, Ms. Dimitriou wished her every success in her duties, noting that the election of a new woman to lead a historic party sends a message of renewal and modernization in political life.
“Our political starting points may differ. However, in the face of the major challenges our country, Cyprus, is facing, what matters is consensus, responsibility, and compromise,” said Ms. Dimitriou.
A DISY statement notes that “political cooperation, as we jointly emphasized, is not limited to the parliamentary framework, but can and must serve society and citizens through initiatives and creative dialogue. Guided by the principle of substantive cooperation, for the good of the country and for the benefit of its citizens.”
