Both well-known and unknown figures are included among the 3,050 signatures that Averof Neophytou chose to spectacularly submit to DISY. The five boxes contain signatures from party leadership members as well as nearly all of the party’s members of parliament. Only one member of parliament, Nikoletta Konstantinou, voted solely for Pamporidis and not for Averof.
Some members, such as Annita Dimitriou, signed for both as a sign of unity. Despite openly supporting Pamporidis, the head of the shadow cabinet, Michalis Ioannidis, signed both petitions. According to reports, former President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades is not included among the signatures that were counted. Standing with Averof are Deputy President Efthymios Diplaros and the two DISY Members of the European Parliament.

Pamporidis Remains Silent
Unlike Averof Neophytou, Giorgos Pamporidis chose to send his signatures to the party for preliminary review via a close associate late in the afternoon. He did not set foot inside the Pindarou building, choosing instead to say what he has to say at the official submission of candidacies on Monday.
Electronic Counting
The signatures are counted electronically through a special system that stops as soon as the number reaches 500. Averof’s remaining 2,500 signatures will likely stay in the boxes. In any case, he is preparing a new, spectacular entrance into the party on Monday, along with a host of his supporters at 11:30 a.m. His next video criticizing the government—focusing on the unfinished project on the Paphos–Polis road—is also in the works.

The anxiety within DISY centers on the aftermath of the internal party elections and the need for the necessary coordination to ensure that no one is excluded from the party’s positions.
A vote for all three
ALMA appears concerned, as AKEL wants to schedule a meeting with Odysseas Michaelides soon. Eirini Charalambidou favors running as an independent, while jokingly adding that she would sign for both Averof Neophytou and Giorgos Pamboridis.
“I’ve known one of them for 40 years, and the other is a very good colleague. I’d sign for both of them. Mr. Michaelides must run. He is the party leader.”
