New talks took place on Wednesday afternoon, online, between Cypriot and Israeli technical experts to reach an agreement regarding the shared natural gas field located between the Cypriot field “Aphrodite” and the Israeli “Isaï,” according to information obtained by CNA.
According to the same sources, no conclusion was reached on the matter during the talks, and the discussion will continue at a new meeting to be scheduled very soon.
The discussions involved technical experts and legal advisors from both countries, as well as the operating companies of the two gas fields.
The disagreement between the two countries stems from the fact that the natural gas reservoir in the “Aphrodite” offshore block geologically overlaps with the “Isai” field in Israel’s EEZ. The operator of “Aphrodite,” located in Block 12 of the Cypriot EEZ, is the American company Chevron.
