“It is not an AI-generated image,” clarifies President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides regarding the image circulated by international news agencies, which shows him speaking with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the Bastille Day celebrations held in Paris.
Speaking on the sidelines of the memorial service for those who fell during the treacherous coup of July 15, 1974, and in response to a journalist’s remark that photographs from Paris show him and the Turkish Foreign Minister in conversation, the President of the Republic said, “Yes, we had a very brief—it wasn’t a conversation, but a discussion—prompted by all these developments, the actions and moves by the United Nations Secretary-General, as well as the moves on the part of the European Union, and we had an exchange of views.”

In response to a journalist’s remark that Turkish media are denying that any discussion took place between the President of the Republic of Cyprus and the Turkish Foreign Minister, President Christodoulides stated, “I said there were no talks; there was a discussion. You can see it in the video. I didn’t imagine the discussion, nor the photo. It’s not a product of AI.”
