The UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy, María Ángela Olguín, will brief the Secretary-General by phone on her work, as she will not be attending the meeting in New York, as UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric announced.
Responding to a question from CNA, Mr. Dujarric confirmed that Ms. Olguín has canceled her planned visits to New York and Cyprus for health reasons.
“I can officially confirm that Maria A. Olgin had to cancel her visit both to New York, where she was scheduled to meet with the Secretary-General, and to Cyprus,” Mr. Duzarik said. As he clarified, the cancellation was made “for health reasons.”
The UN Spokesperson added that Ms. Olgin “will speak with the Secretary-General by phone to brief him on her work.”
At the same time, he noted that the Personal Envoy “remains in close contact with the leaders of both sides in Cyprus and their representatives.”
