"The Cyprus issue remains a matter of the illegal military occupation of a significant part of the Republic of Cyprus, a sovereign EU member state," notes, among other things, Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias.
In a post marking the 52nd anniversary of the second phase of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, Mr. Dendias emphasizes that no matter how many years pass, the memory endures. “We honor the memory of our fallen Greek and Cypriot brothers who fought for the freedom of Cyprus. We do not forget those who are missing and their families,” he concluded.
