This was announced by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letympiotis, who noted that “the decision to hold more frequent meetings is already being put into practice” and emphasizing that yesterday’s meeting between the two leaders “was positive and, above all, set a more steady pace for the continuation of the effort.”
“It was a lengthy meeting, with discussions on the substance, methodology, confidence-building measures, and the preparation of the next steps toward convening an expanded meeting, as the United Nations Secretary-General has also proposed. Of particular importance is the decision by the two leaders to meet at least once a week and more frequently, should circumstances require it.”

Mr. Letympiotis emphasized that “our resolve is clear,” explaining that “we will continue intensively, constructively, and with a focus on substance, making the most of every opportunity that could bring us closer to the resumption of negotiations.”
“Our approach is optimistic but realistic. We do not underestimate the difficulties, nor do we take results for granted. The goal is for this momentum to gain continuity, substance, and results. At the same time, we do not lose sight of the broader context of the Cyprus issue. Progress at the level of the two leaders is essential. However, to achieve substantive progress, Turkey’s stance, will, and contribution remain decisive. That is why we continue to leverage the European dimension of the Cyprus issue, as Turkey’s relations with the European Union and its European aspirations can serve as a supportive force toward the resumption of talks and a solution.”
