With a minute of silence in memory of those who fell during the treacherous coup and the brutal, Turkish invasion, the special session of the Plenary of the House of Representatives on the dark anniversaries of July 1974 began.
The customary session was held in the presence of the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, members of the Cabinet, the Primate of the Church of Cyprus, Archbishop Georgios, government officials, and citizens.

Speaker of the House Anita Dimitriou made special mention of the women and girls who were victims of Attila’s heinous acts, including murders and rapes, while condemning the stance of Turkey and the pseudo-state regarding efforts to resolve the Cyprus issue.
Ms. Dimitriou noted that unity is required to address geopolitical and geostrategic challenges and emphasized the need for political and state leadership to learn from the mistakes of the past.
