On the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan posted a message on social media in which he reiterated Ankara’s support for the Turkish Cypriots.
In his post, the Turkish president emphasized that: “I honor our heroic martyrs with respect and express my gratitude to our veterans.”

“I congratulate the Turkish Cypriot people with my most sincere feelings on the July 20th Peace and Freedom Day and send my greetings to my brothers, the Turkish Cypriots,” he added.
Concluding his message, Erdoğan reiterated Ankara’s position that Turkey, as the “motherland” and guarantor power, will never leave the Turkish Cypriots alone in their just struggle.
On the 52nd anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, I remember our heroic martyrs with compassion and our veterans with gratitude.
I extend my warmest congratulations to the Turkish Cypriot people on their July 20 Peace and Freedom Day, and I send my greetings to my Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters.
