In a statement it issued, DISY reaffirms its support for common European policy and the positions of the European People’s Party, while also emphasizing the importance of Cyprus coordinating with Greece on major international issues.
The statement in its entirety
The Democratic Alarm supports the positions of the European People’s Party and the common policy of the European Union of 27 regarding energy sanctions against Russia, always in full coordination with Greece.
Mr. Averof Neophytou’s suggestion to reconsider the energy sanctions is his personal proposal within the framework of public political dialogue. Everyone has the right to put forward policy proposals and suggestions.
The Democratic Alarm, however, considers it critical and imperative to stand in solidarity with our European partners on major international issues and to align Cyprus’s policies with those of Greece, so that partnerships may be built that serve the broader objectives of the Republic of Cyprus as well as the values of the European Union.
