The United Nations Secretary-General’s visit to Cyprus from July 27 to 29 was announced on Thursday by his Spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, during a press briefing at UN headquarters in New York.
As he noted, the UN Secretary-General will travel to Cyprus “as part of his Good Offices mission and his strong, concrete commitment to the Cyprus issue.”

During his stay on the island, “he will meet with the leaders of the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities, as well as with other stakeholders,” the Spokesperson said.
The Secretary-General’s meetings will focus “on efforts to advance the peace process and support stability on the island,” including through the work of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).

“Further details regarding the Secretary-General’s schedule will be provided,” the Spokesperson added.
