The President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, is traveling to New York, where he will address the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, and during his stay there, he will meet with the UN Secretary-General, his personal envoy, as well as heads of state or government and leaders of organizations and multinational companies. He will also meet with representatives of the Cypriot diaspora.
President Christodoulides will begin his meetings on Sunday evening, September 20, with a meeting with the leaders of diaspora organizations, during which he will brief them on developments regarding the Cyprus issue.

Among other engagements, on September 21 at 1:15 p.m. (New York time), he will meet with King Abdullah II of Jordan, while in the afternoon he will participate in a summit co-hosted by European Council President Antonio Costa and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, focusing on multilateralism, international law, peace, and prosperity.

On Tuesday, September 22, he will attend the opening of the Plenary Session of the General Assembly, during which the UN Secretary-General will present his Report on the Work of the General Assembly, while in the afternoon, the President of the Republic will meet with Mr. Javier la Rosa, President of Chevron’s Base Assets and Emerging Countries Division.
At 6 p.m. (New York time) on the same day, the President of the Republic will meet with the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy on the Cyprus Issue, Ms. María Ángela Olguín.
On Wednesday, September 23, at approximately 12:30 p.m. (New York time), the President of the Republic will address the Plenary Session of the UN General Assembly.
Later, he will participate in the proceedings of the High-Level Meeting convened by the UN Secretary-General on the topic of Climate Change, during which he will deliver a statement, and in the afternoon of the same day, he will meet with ExxonMobil Vice President John Ardill.
On the morning of Thursday, September 24, the President of the Republic will attend a working breakfast organized by the Antenna Group and the Atlantic Council, on the topic of “Strengthening EU-Gulf Cooperation for Regional Security and Prosperity”.

At 10:55 a.m. (New York time), President Christodoulides will meet with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the Secretary-General’s Office in the UN building.
Following that, the President of the Republic will host a luncheon for the Permanent Representatives of the five Permanent Members of the UN Security Council.
On the morning of September 25, the President of the Republic will meet with the Vice President of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Han Zheng, and subsequently with representatives of the AJC.
Before departing from New York, President Christodoulides will attend a dinner hosted in his honor by Cypriot diaspora organizations.
President Christodoulides, who will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kompos, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letympiotis, and Chief Negotiator Menelaos Menelaou, will return to Cyprus on the evening of September 26.
