The United Nations has neither confirmed nor denied whether the details published by The Independent correspond to an actual plan by the Secretary-General and his Personal Special Envoy for the resolution of the Cyprus issue.
Responding to a related question from the Cyprus News Agency, the Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, acknowledged that the United Nations had taken note of the report.

“I understand your interest and curiosity regarding the article in The Independent,” he said.
“We have seen it; we have read the article,” Mr. Dujarric added, without, however, confirming whether the proposals described in it reflect, in whole or in part, the Secretary-General’s approach.
He reiterated that “the Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy, María Ángela Olguín, remain committed to supporting the leaders in Cyprus toward the resumption of negotiations.”
The Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General added that the Cyprus issue was discussed during the Secretary-General’s telephone conversation with the President of the European Commission.
