UN Secretary-General António Guterres is expected to arrive in Cyprus for a two-day visit, accompanied by the entire United Nations Cyprus team.
The head of the international organization will be accompanied by his Personal Envoy for the Cyprus issue, María Ángela Olguín, UN Deputy Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo, and UN Deputy Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix.

According to reports, the UN chief will arrive in Cyprus on Monday, July 27, 2026, and the very next day he will hold separate meetings with the President of the Republic, Nicos Christodoulides, and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman.
On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, accompanied by his Personal Envoy María Ángela Olguín, the UN Secretary-General is expected to convene a trilateral meeting at the residence of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in the Nicosia airport area.
A well-informed source reported that Mr. Guterres’s goal is, following the conclusion of the Trilateral Meeting, to announce—flanked by Messrs. Christodoulides and Erciyuman—the dates forand the location of the new Informal Multilateral Conference on the Cyprus issue.

Turkish Cypriot media report that during his visit, the Secretary-General is also expected to meet with members of the bicommunal Technical Committees and representatives of certain civil society organizations.
This is Mr. Guterres’s first visit to Cyprus since taking office, while the last visit by a Secretary-General of the international organization took place in 2010, when Ban Ki-moon came to the island.
