Turkish analysts are concerned about the ever-increasing purchase of real estate by Israelis in the occupied territories.
“I think oversight of the real estate market needs to be improved. As you know, these companies have foreign representatives, long-term usage rights, and sales contracts. So, when someone goes there and buys land, ostensibly as a citizen of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, their subsequent transactions should also be monitored.”

And they believe this must be stopped because there is a risk that these individuals could act as a Trojan horse in the event of a conflict in the region.
“There are already signs of settlement in Southern Cyprus (i.e., as they call the Republic of Cyprus)—the so-called kibbutz. But this isn’t just about the settlement aspect. Look, it’s about production, agriculture, security, communal life—it’s an ideological issue. That is Zionism. That is Zionism.”

The phenomenon appeared to have subsided following the arrest and conviction of the land-grabber Shimon Aikut, but it is now returning to its previous scale.

“We have good relations with Cyprus. We have good relations with Greece. And many of our actions are aimed at countering Turkey’s efforts to play a dominant role in the Eastern Mediterranean. Cyprus is a democracy. Greece is a democracy. Israel is a democracy. And these countries are our friends and allies.”

In fact, as they point out, Benjamin Netanyahu himself would have visited Cyprus if there were not an arrest warrant against him issued by the International Criminal Court.
At the same time, they note that tensions are rising over the Achilles Shield, the Cyprus-Israel defense cooperation, and the personal feud between Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Benjamin Netanyahu, with the Mecca Alliance also serving as a backdrop.
The architect of the “Blue Homeland” initiative emphasized that pressure must be maintained at all costs on Egypt to join the agreement, in the face of pressure being exerted by Nicosia and Athens on Sisi.
“If we’re talking about competition in this region, Greece will try to do something in response. Because Greece feels uncomfortable. That’s to be expected. Saying, ‘Let’s not do this, so that Greece won’t do it either,’ is wrong.”

He added that Turkey is a very powerful state, while Greece is a country with very little influence.
