Strengthening transparency, meritocracy, and good governance in the management and disposal of Turkish Cypriot properties is a consistent priority for the Ministry of the Interior, says Minister Konstantinos Ioannou, announcing that in this context, the Turkish Cypriot Property Management Service has made available to the public an online form for submitting complaints and reports regarding cases of illegal use or other irregularities involving Turkish Cypriotproperties.
The new digital service, it notes, “is yet another essential measure to enhance the transparency and effectiveness of inspections, enabling citizens to actively contribute to identifying potential irregularities through a direct and accessible process for submitting information.” “Every named complaint or report is examined with due seriousness and attention by the competent officials, with the aim of ensuring legality in the management of Turkish Cypriot properties,” he added.
The implementation of the new service “is part of the Ministry of the Interior’s broader effort to modernize procedures and bring about a substantive change in the way Turkish Cypriot properties are managed, by strengthening oversight and accountability mechanisms.”
In his statement, Ioannou reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency, meritocracy, and equal treatment for the refugee community. “Through the legislative reform that has been enacted, the implementation of the new eligibility and points-based system, the intensification of inspections, the termination of contracts, the recovery of properties, and the rationalization of the pricing policy, we are consistently moving forward with changing the way Turkish Cypriot properties are managed,” he emphasized.
“The primary objective remains the establishment of a fair and reliable management framework that ensures legality, equal treatment of refugees, and the protection of the public interest.”
