The appointment of a team of independent criminal investigators to look into the findings of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority regarding Makarios Drousiotis’s book “Mafia State,” which attributes potential criminal offenses to former President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades and 14 other individuals and legal entities, was decided by the Council of Ministers.
Following today’s meeting, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letympiotis explained that the appointment of individuals from abroad cannot be ruled out, and that decisions will be made and announced by the government as soon as possible.
Mr. Letympiotis emphasized that the individuals who will join the team will be thoroughly vetted by the Council of Ministers for their qualifications, competence, and potential conflicts of interest, with the aim of moving the investigations forward and restoring public trust in the institutions.
