George Pamporidis announced his candidacy in the Democratic Party’s internal party procedures, seeking the party’s nomination for the 2028 presidential election.
In a video lasting one minute and 36 seconds, Mr. Pamporidis calls on the public to support him by filling out the application form he posted online.
“The people believed all of us who promised them that the Democratic Party would once again become a leading force in our country’s development. But at a time when we should be preparing to plan the country’s next administration, introversion and discord are once again causing bitterness in our community. It’s time to turn the page.”

“I have decided to seek the Democratic Party’s nomination for the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus,” he states, explaining his reasons.
“I am doing this because I believe that, at a time of significant challenges for our country, I have the knowledge, the experience, and the willingness to serve with dignity and to contribute to our nation. I am doing this because I believe that my candidacy can unite our base, but also appeal to every other political camp that shares the vision of a modern, European Cyprus.”
And he asks for support… ““If you are a member of the Democratic Party and wish to support my candidacy, you will find the official endorsement form and all relevant instructions at the link accompanying this post,” he concludes.
