In a complete refutation of reports and media coverage claiming that the government had “sounded out” Democratic Alarm officials Nicos Tornaritis and Elena Kousiou regarding ministerial appointments, in light of a cabinet reshuffle being planned by President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letympiotis issued a statement today.
Speaking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting and when asked about the matter, Mr. Letympiotis explained that, specifically regarding Ms. Kousiou, the possibility of her being appointed to the government was explored, but not to a ministerial position.
According to reports, Nikos Christodoulides’ proposal to Elena Kousiou was for her to assume the role of Commissioner.
Ms. Kousiou previously served as President of the Cyprus Land Development Organization, a position from which she resigned to run for a seat in Parliament in the May 24, 2026, elections on the DISY ticket in the Nicosia district.
