The form for collecting signatures, as well as the form for submitting a candidacy—in order to be eligible to run for the presidential nomination— were requested from DISY by the party’s former president, Averof Neophytou. The party leadership has confirmed the news, and according to reports, the forms were requested not by Averof Neophytou himself, but by a close associate of his around 3:00 p.m.
Although the former DISY President himself has not made a clear statement, this move could be seen as a precursor to his candidacy within the party; however, nothing can be taken for granted.
