Abolition of the horizontal “vote” (“mixed vote”) The “parliament” in the occupied territories “voted” to amend the “legislation” on “elections and referendums,” despite its initial veto by the Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhürman.
As reported from the occupied territories, during an emergency session of the “plenary,” chaired by the body’s “president,” Ziya Öztürkler, “the amendment was approved with 28 votes in favor—from government MPs” and members of the Renaissance Party (“YDP”)—and 10 against.”
With this ratification, the option to select candidates from different parties in “electoral” processes is permanently abolished. The new regulation takes effect immediately upon its publication in the “Official Gazette.”
