Relations between Cyprus and France are at an all-time high, according to the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus, which states that the historic relationship between the two countries has now been elevated to “strategic cooperation, with specific policies and tangible results.”
In a post on the X platform, the Presidency notes that cooperation between the two countries is “multifaceted and multi-level” and is constantly evolving, with an emphasis on Defense and Security, Energy, connectivity, education, and culture.
At the same time, it notes that Cyprus and France share “a common approach to Europe’s role in the world and the need to strengthen the strategy of autonomy.”
The Presidency further notes that the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two countries “has been proven in practice, to the benefit of Cyprus and France, the European Union, and the wider region.”
The post is accompanied by a video from the meeting between the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, and French President Emmanuel Macron last June in Cyprus and in December 2025 in Paris.
