At 9:30 a.m., President Christodoulides briefed the members of the National Council on his meetings in New York regarding the Cyprus issue.
Yesterday, the President said that there are difficulties, problems, and challenges—which we do not overlook—but under no circumstances is there a dead end. He also said that the EU is making efforts toward Turkey.
Furthermore, negotiator Menelaos Menelaou said that the UN Secretary-General has specific steps in mind for the immediate future.
The Secretary-General’s personal envoy, María Ángela Olguín, is expected to visit Cyprus in October.
