The President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, received this afternoon, at the Presidential Palace, the top-scoring students in the Pan-Cyprian Examinations, in the presence of the Minister of Education, Sports, and Youth, Ms. Athina Michaelidou.
During the meeting, the President of the Republic congratulated the top scorers and their families who supported them, and spoke with them about their choices of specific fields of study and whether they had benefited from career guidance in schools.
Speaking to the students, President Christodoulides pointed out that “Cyprus is among the EU countries with the highest percentages of high school and technical school graduates who decide to pursue university studies. And of course, we want these people to return to work in Cyprus. We don’t want them to stay abroad—we need Cypriot talent. Our country’s greatest strength is its human capital, and we’re making a major effort to bring back as many Cypriots as possible from abroad, offering incentives to attract more Cypriots to return. And I’m glad that we have quite a few Cypriots returning.”
