Campaign headquarters for the presidential race began springing up days ago on Pindarou Street, where the leading candidates are laying the groundwork to secure support for their candidacies.
Anita’s Decision
By order of Annita Dimitriou, 15 individuals who do not serve on the party’s collective bodies and who were candidates in the parliamentary elections are, as of today, members of DISY’s expanded political bureau. This decision follows the inclusion of other parliamentary candidates who failed to win election in the shadow cabinet. Today, Konstantinos Moundoukkos took over the portfolio of research and innovation.
These moves are by no means coincidental on the part of the party leader, who is striving to leave no one feeling bitter and to build a supportive team of executives around her.

The party’s Political Bureau met at 5:00 p.m. against the backdrop of the parliamentary election results and developments in the Cyprus issue.
Christodoulides Not Ruled Out
Party officials make no secret of their sympathy for Nicos Christodoulides as well. Nikos Tornaritis leaves open the possibility of DISY supporting the President of the Republic to prevent AKEL from coming to power.
“Obviously, the incumbent President of the Republic cannot be ruled out. We ourselves must not divide the broader center-right spectrum. We must not, through premature exclusions or personal conflicts, open the door to AKEL on our own.”

Haris Georgiadis is extending a hand of cooperation to DIKO, once again to prevent the election of an AKEL candidate.
His full interview will be published in Alpha on Sunday, July 19.
Pamporidis vs. Averof
With the mistakes made against him by the leadership at the time still fresh in his mind, Giorgos Pamborides, in communication with party officials, has stated that it would be advisable to reassess the results of the 2023 presidential election. The DISY MP has previously blamed Averof Neophytou for these issues. However, the party leadership does not seem willing to do so, as they believe they should not look back, especially after the results of the parliamentary elections.
