Reactions continue unabated to the formation of a pro-Israel “lobby” in Parliament involving the DISY, DIKO, and ELAM, as well as the “Israel Allies Foundation.”
In a letter to House Speaker Annita Dimitriou, AKEL Parliamentary Spokesperson Giorgos Loukaidis raises a series of questions regarding the use of a House chamber, specifically concerning the procedure and criteria for approval, noting that at the Leaders’ Meeting on October 8, the practice of allocating parliamentary spaces exclusively for purely parliamentary or related party activities had been reaffirmed.
At the same time, information is requested regarding the group’s institutional status, any commitments made by the participants, sources of funding and administrative support, as well as the implementation of the provisions of the Code of Conduct regarding the disclosure of conflicts of interest, gifts, and travel.
The letter in its entirety:
AKEL MP Andreas Pasiourtides and DIKO MP Chrysis Pantelides clashed over the issue on the Alpha News program.
Mr. Pasiourtides questioned why the three parties felt the need to establish their own parliamentary diplomacy, while Mr. Pantelidis accused AKEL of anti-Semitism and hostility toward the Western world.
