The presence of Turkish soldiers in Cyprus is vital, argued the “foreign minister,” Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, who met with the Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, General Metin Tokel, today, Saturday, in the occupied territories.
According to Turkish Cypriot media, Mr. Ertuğruloğlu claimed that the Turkish armed forces are the guarantee of peace and security in Cyprus. “The presence of the Turkish army on the island is the strongest guarantee of peace, existence, security, and the future of the Turkish Cypriot people,” he said.

He drew attention to the role of the Turkish armed forces in the region and said that the visit by the leadership of the Land Forces had given them great strength and confidence.
General Tokel was accompanied by Lieutenant General Sebahattin Kilinc, the “commander” of the “peacekeeping forces” in the occupied territories.
