Anita Dimitriou announced the appointment of Anastasia Anthousi to the DISY Health portfolio and as head of the party’s School of Political Education. A press release states that Ms. Anthousi’s appointment is part of an effort to utilize party officials with the aim of “fostering meaningful public discourse.”

Ms. Dimitriou made special mention of Ms. Anthousi’s multifaceted experience and academic background in the field of health. As she noted, Ms. Anthousi’s career to date, both through positions of responsibility and her active engagement with public health issues—and, of course, as the first Deputy Minister of Welfare—constitutes a significant foundation for the work she is undertaking.

At the same time, Ms. Anthousi, as a DISY member since her college years, is an excellent choice to head the party’s School of Political Education. As the President emphasized, “Ms. Anthousi will establish a team that will bring a substantive perspective to the School.” 

At the same time, the DISY President thanked Ms. Anthousi for her efforts as a candidate in the recent parliamentary elections, noting that she contributed significantly to the party’s positive election results. She also praised Ms. Anthousi’s long-standing sensitivity and interest in social issues, as well as her steadfast commitment to improving health services for the benefit of citizens.

Finally, the DISY President emphasized that the process of engaging party officials continues, with the aim of formulating evidence-based policy proposals that will strengthen substantive public dialogue.

For her part, Ms. Anthousi thanked the President of the Democratic Alarm for her trust, while expressing her readiness to work with all her strength to ensure the success of the mission she is undertaking.

As she stated,

“Health is one of the most important assets for every citizen and requires constant monitoring, evidence-based proposals, and substantive interventions.”

She adds, “I am taking on this responsibility with a sense of duty and the goal of contributing constructively to the oversight of policies that will further strengthen the National Health System (GESY), improve the quality of health services, and meet the real needs of patients and health professionals, intervening decisively when necessary.”

At the same time, Ms. Anthousi emphasized that the School of Political Education has a crucial role to play in training new executives as well as providing continuing education on specialized topics.

In conclusion, Ms. Anthousi assured that she would focus her efforts on shaping modern and practical policies for the benefit of both Cypriot society and the party.
