The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, will meet with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and foreign leaders in Paris, where he has been since last night, responding to an invitation from his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, to attend the military parade of the French Armed Forces, which will take place on the Champs-Élysées to mark France’s National Day.
In Paris, the President of the Republic met yesterday with officers of the National Guard, who will take part in today’s parade of the French Armed Forces for France’s National Day, at the invitation of the French Armed Forces.
Speaking to the members of the elite contingent, in the presence of National Guard Commander Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou, he noted that the honorary invitation to march with the flag of the Republic of Cyprus on the Champs-Élysées, before heads of state and government, beyond its high symbolic significance, reflects, among other things, the importance of strategic cooperation between Cyprus and France, with relations between the two countries at the highest possible level.
The President of the Republic, who will return to Cyprus late this afternoon, is accompanied in Paris by Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou and government officials.
