In the occupied territories is the German federal member of parliament from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Maximilian Krach, at the invitation of the “president” of the “parliament,” Ziya Öztürkler.
According to the Turkish Cypriot online press, during their meeting in occupied Nicosia—which was also attended by the “member of parliament” from the National Unity Party (“KEE”), Hasan Tatsoi, Mr. Ozturkler spoke about the significance of the visit. He also expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that a committee of the German Bundestag had twice rejected a similar invitation, while arguing that Mr. Krach’s contacts would help highlight the alleged “isolation” of Turkish Cypriots by inviting foreign parliamentarians to engage in direct dialogue.

For his part, Mr. Krach claimed that the reactions to his presence stem from the fact that “certain circles do not want a solution” and allegedly “do not want to face reality”. He focused on issues related to the movement of Turkish Cypriots and their participation in international forums, advocating for the need for direct talks.
Mr. Tatsoi noted that the German politician will hold a series of meetings with organizations and key figures, arguing that the goal is to promote Turkish Cypriot positions in Europe without backing down from their so-called “red lines.”
