They will hold another meeting—their last before the UN General Assembly in New York—on Thursday, September 17, between the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhurman. The meeting, which is part of the two leaders’ regular contacts and the continuation of substantive discussions, is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
Meanwhile, according to information received by CNA, the negotiator for the Greek Cypriot side, Menelaos Menelaou, will meet with the Turkish Cypriot leader’s special representative, Mehmet Dana, on Monday afternoon.

So far, at least, nothing has emerged regarding the scheduled phone call between the Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy and Antonio Guterres, María ‘Ángela Olguín, who, as was reported, postponed her trip to the island in recent days as well as her trip to New York for health reasons.

On September 18, the High-Level Week of the 81st General Assembly for 2026 begins at UN Headquarters and concludes on the 28th of the month.
The main event—the General Debate, during which heads of state and government from around the world deliver their statements—will begin on Tuesday, September 22.
Following the leaders’ last meeting on the 9th of the month, President Christodoulides had stated that there might be a joint meeting between himself and the Turkish Cypriot leader in New York, or with the UN Secretary-General or his Personal Envoy. However, as reported by CNA, there is no new information regarding these meetings at this time.
At the previous meeting, discussions continued on the three issues—methodology, substance, and confidence-building measures—and, as the President of the Republic stated, progress has been made on some issues, in the sense that there is a common understanding, while on others, disagreements and differing approaches persist.
