George Pamporidis reaffirmed his intention to run as a candidate in the Democratic Alarm party’s internal elections for the presidential nomination before the Political Bureau.
The meeting of the party’s Political Bureau is currently underway, in the absence of former party President Averof Neophytou, who, according to reports, is abroad.
DISY President Annita Dimitriou sent a message of unity, emphasizing that our goal is to have a candidate emerge from the selection process and to move forward united in this battle.
“We are members of the same team; we have fought battles and will continue to do so,” added Ms. Dimitriou.
It should be noted that the DISY Executive Bureau’s recommendations regarding the timeline for selecting a candidate are being presented to the Political Bureau.
Specifically, the Executive Bureau recommended to the Political Bureau that candidate nominations take place on Tuesday, October 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30, and that the Extraordinary Pan-Cypriot Electoral Assembly be held on Saturday, November 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The session is taking place in the wake of Averof Neophytou’s surprise announcement of his candidacy for the 2028 presidential election, who has not yet clarified whether he is running through party procedures, and the party president’s announcement that she will seek the DISY nomination.
