The latest developments regarding migration flows to the Republic of Cyprus, as well as the effectiveness of existing measures for managing, prevention and response to irregular migration, were assessed on Tuesday by the relevant government agencies at a meeting held at the Ministry of Justice and Public Order, attended by the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
According to a statement from the Ministry, the meeting also examined regional and international developments affecting the migration landscape in the wider region, with the aim of forming a comprehensive picture of the challenges facing the Republic of Cyprus.
“Particular emphasis was placed on maintaining a high level of operational coordination among all relevant agencies, as well as on further strengthening Cyprus’s cooperation with European and international partners for more effective management of the migration issue,” the statement said.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Justice and Public Order, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the heads of the relevant government agencies—a fact which, according to the announcement, underscores the importance the government attaches to continuously assessing the situation and coordinating actions to manage migration challenges.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to implementing a comprehensive and effective migration policy, in accordance with European and international law, with the aim of ensuring security, stability, and social cohesion.
