Andreas Paschalidis is expected to serve a third consecutive term as president of AADIPA, if the Council of Ministers decides to reappoint him to that position. This possibility has sparked a storm of reactions among the opposition, which has highlighted his involvement and the latest extension granted for the submission of the findings in the “Videogate” case.

Appearing as a guest on the Alpha Enimerosi program, attorney Andreas Christou, when asked if another person could be selected to chair the AADIPA, replied that “of course someone else could,” adding that such moves provoke reactions from political parties and perpetuate “people’s courts.”

He described the situation as “tense” and noted that “the appointment of Mr. Paschalidis by the President of the Republic creates a sense of suspicion,” which, he added, “our country is unable to prevent.”

“We are tired of waging such battles when we have more serious problems to deal with,” he said. He added that “those reappointed to the Authority are individuals of recognized standing and legal training” and commented specifically on Mr. Paschalidis that “the issue is not anyone’s legal training, but the weight and importance we attach to completing one process so that the next one can begin.” He emphasized that there are generally delays in many procedures and appointments, and this is not an isolated case.
