“We reached an agreement with the Greek Prime Minister. The Republic of Cyprus will pay the 25 million as soon as the NAVTEX is issued to begin seismic surveys. That is my agreement with the Greek Prime Minister, which we will, of course, honor. We made provisions for this last year as well, and we have done so again this year.” Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic

Nicosia is therefore ready to pay the first installment of 25 million to ADMIE, according to what President Christodoulides said in an interview with PLUS.He also assured that there is no disagreement with Athens.

“Absolutely no friction. And some are trying to portray that there is friction. A different opinion. A different approach. There is nothing of the sort.” Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic

Nikos Christodoulides pointed out that, in any case, citizens were not burdened, as the 25 million euros are included in the state budget.

“The interconnection is absolutely necessary. Without the interconnection and other measures, we will never achieve the goal of reducing electricity prices.” Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic

He described the entry of the French company Meridiam into GSI’s share capital and France’s full support for the project as decisive.

However, as the President noted, the priority is to update the studies related to the project, which, he said, was proposed by Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Energy Committee visited the facilities in Vasiliko today and is seeking clear answers regarding the next steps, the costs, and, above all, the construction timelines for the liquefied natural gas import terminal.
