With a full schedule of meetings and contacts, and determined to provide a “psychological boost” to efforts to resume negotiations for a solution to the Cyprus problem, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres will visit Nicosia in late July.
According to information from AlphaNews.Live, the UN chief will arrive in Cyprus on Monday, July 27, 2026, and the very next day he will hold separate meetings with the President of the Republic, Nicos Christodoulides, and theTurkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman.
On Wednesday, July 28, 2026, accompanied by his Personal Envoy María Ángela Olguín, the UN Secretary-General is expected to convene a trilateral meeting at the residence of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in the Nicosia airport area.
A well-informed source reported that Mr. Guterres’s goal is, following the conclusion of the Trilateral Meeting, to announce—flanked by Mr. Christodoulides and Mr. Erciyuman—the dates and locationof the new Informal Multilateral Conference on the Cyprus issue.
