Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expresses his gratitude to the President of the Republic, Nicos Christodoulides, noting that it was during Cyprus’s EU Presidency that the first set of accession negotiation chapters with Kyiv was opened.
In a post on X on Tuesday evening, President Zelenskyy referred to a congratulatory message sent by President Christodoulides, marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.
“It was during Cyprus’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union that the first set of accession chapters in the negotiations with the EU was finally opened. Now it is important that all the remaining [chapters] be opened,” he said.
He notes that Ukraine knows it can count on Cyprus’s continued support for its accession to the EU.
“We also appreciate other forms of support and hope to expand our cooperation in other areas as well,” Mr. Zelenskyy states in his post on X.
