In his first written statement following the announcement of the decision by DISY President Anita Dimitriou, not to seek the party’s nomination for the 2028 presidential election, the former party president, Averof Neophytou.
Here is Averof Neophytou’s statement in its entirety:
ΣΧΕΤΙΚΑ ΑΡΘΡΑ
Ten days ago, I stated that I stand with the call from a large segment of our compatriots for a national awakening that will pull us out of the lethargy of passivity.
To solve the major problems facing our country.
To give young people a future.
To build a just society. The people of the Democratic Alarm are the invaluable and irreplaceable core of this pan-Cypriot movement. They are the ones who safeguard the unity of our party.
And I have repeatedly stated that I would never hurt this wonderful group.
Following the announcement by our party’s president, Ms. Annita Dimitriou—who made a prudent and responsible decision that strengthens the party’s unity—I have only one thing to say: TOGETHER WE MOVE FORWARD!
